Nature update 2
Mar. 12th, 2021 11:49 amWe observe with some concern a new nest of yellow-vented bulbuls, Olympic-level contenders for the title of "World's Stupidest Bird". Every year they have been building their nest in a bush within leaping range of Bus-Stop Cat, he of the rocket-like vertical acceleration. This year, obviously feeling that life needs more excitement, they are even lower down, within jumping range of even Lap-Cat and Scaredy-Cat, who are down cats, and don't generally bother with a bird unless it's already on the ground.
And if this wasn't enough, the local Greater Coucal has noticed, and has been hanging around, eyeing the eggs.
Yellow-vented bulbuls are extremely common all over equatorial and monsoon Asia, having adapted well to urban life. I am still quite puzzled how they manage it even so, given the suicidal idiocy of their domestic arrangements.
