Hark! An allergy!
Jan. 5th, 2022 11:06 pmRunny nose and concomitant sore throat from nasal drip irritation continued for a week, sporadically controlled by an over-the-counter combination of loratidine and pseudoephedrine (which worked, but eventually started giving me heart palpitations, which wasn't good). The daily self-administered ARTs continued negative, but I decided to go and see a doctor anyway, just in case I picked up an actual infection, so as to avoid the embarassment of getting, say, bacterial pneumonia. An upper respiratory tract infection in a GP's clinic triggers an automatic ART and PCR test, so I had those, and was sent home for compulsory isolation until the test results came out. ART was negative within the hour, and the PCR was negative too, though I had to wait overnight to get that, since I took it late in the afternoon. So I'm fine, at least in respect of COVID. The runny nose, alas, while reduced, has not yet gone away. Hopefully the (non-generative-of-heart-palpitations) antihistamines and the nasal spray will take care of it eventually.
And the walking shoes are done, and I can go and pick them up this weekend, yay!

I think it very inconsiderate of omicron to mimic the symptoms of diseases and allergies which are rife at this season in both hemispheres.
