Note to self from my wardrobe

Perfection is neither static nor singular.

In several decades of working life, I have accumulated quite a lot of clothes (and was pleased not to have disposed of outfits that I was temporarily too fat for, despite naysayers suggesting that I would never fit into them again, ha ha). Several of them are perfect. They fit well and comfortably, for what I do in them. They are well-made, and in colours and designs that suit me. They are completely appropriate for the occasions for which I wear them. They are all totally different, but they are all perfect for the parameters that apply to them.

Perfection is not universal. Something can be perfect for something, but not necessarily for everything.

The great advantages of buying clothes that suit me and then keeping them, rather than following fashion exactly, is that (a) everything always suits, (b) never being completely in fashion means that I am never completely out of it either, (c) I always have something in the wardrobe that will suit whatever is current, and (d) I can always claim that I wear "vintage style". There is really no downside except for the need for storage space, and that is just a matter of choosing your priorities. To misquote that great work, "Cooking In A Bedsit", "My bedroom isn't crowded. I'm sleeping in my walk-in wardrobe."

I conceded to disposing of some things that I'd worn as a teenager. My shoulders are in fact broader than they used to be, due to working on upper body strength in the intervening decades.
